THINGS TO DO IN CAPE TOWN: SEPTEMBER 2017

EIKENDAL VINEYARDS 2017 WINTER PIZZA & WINE PAIRING – Until 30th Sept

Winter has finally come and Eikendal Vineyards’ popular and unique Pizza & Wine Pairing is ready to delight food and wine lovers. What better way to battle against the cold Cape winter than to enjoy three thin-crust mini pizzas prepared by resident restaurant Cucina di Giovanni and paired with three of Eikendal’s finest red wines.

MZANSI TAPAS TASTER – Until End Sept 2017

Wine and olive estate Gabriëlskloof in Botrivier, invites you to savour in true Overberg style, with its month-long offering of proudly South African treats. The Gabriëlskloof Tasting Lounge will showcase a truly unique Mzansi Tapas Taster – bites with a local twist, paired with four estate wines. The food and wine celebration will build up to a most memorable braai feast on Heritage Day (24th September) when a single, continuous table of unity will line the shaded veranda that surrounds the lush courtyard for a theatre of braai.

MOST EXPENSIVE BURGER IN TOWN – 20th Sept 2017

Community Keepers, an NGO offering school-based psychological support programmes at marginal Western Cape schools, are aiming to add a good few drops in their long-term goal ‘bucket’ with the launch of its 2017 #MostExpensiveBurger fundraising and networking events. With Capetonians’ help and time, the NGO aims to establish 100 offices by the year 2025, to reach 20 000 learners annually (currently, 17 offices are active).

12 APOSTLES CUPPAFORCANSA HIGH TEA  – 28th Sept

The largest museum of contemporary art in Africa will open its doors, free of charge, to the public during its Grand Opening on Heritage Weekend! Entrance to the museum will be free from Friday, 22 September to Monday, 25 September, as a celebration of the momentous occasion.

To avoid overcrowding, visitors are required to present a ticket for entry to the museum. Tickets will be available at no cost, from Webtickets and also at the door during Heritage Weekend.

12 APOSTLES CUPPAFORCANSA HIGH TEA  – 28th Sept

The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa has teamed up with CANSA to present their annual CuppaforCANSA High Tea to raise awareness, and funds, for CANSA’s valuable work. Overlooking the glorious Atlantic Seaboard, the event promises to be a sumptuous affair with decadent treats from Chef Christo Pretorius and Pastry Chef, Gina Marziani.

Where: Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa

When: Thursday, 28th Sept from 10h00 – 12h30 or 15h00 – 17h30.

SPRINGBOK NUDE GIRLS LIVE AT THE CAPE FARM HOUSE – 30th Sept

Through a series of serendipitous events in the early 90’s in the small wine making town of Stellenbosch, Arno Carstens, Theo Crous, Adriaan Brand, Arno Blumer and Francois Kruger became The Springbok Nude Girls. This September, Springbok Nude Girls will deliver a 5-date tour of Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria while they prepare to write and record a new album.

Where: Cape Farm House, Scarborough.

When: Saturday, 30th Sept 2017 at 3pm, performance at 4pm.

Tickets: R100 at webtickets or R120 at the door.

THINGS TO DO IN CAPE TOWN: OCTOBER 2017

MUIZENBERG PUG DASH – Sunday 1st Oct

Launched in 2011 as a small event aimed at community building, the Muizenberg Pug Dash has grown to a loved annual event that warms the hearts of all dog lovers and their pups. Participants need no prior experience nor training as the adored pups line up at the start (with their launchers holding on to them tightly), while their beloved owners call and entice them from the finish line before an explosion of running joy and delight. (There is no betting.)

There are locally sourced prizes up for grabs including prizes for the Oldest Pug, Best Pimped Pug and a Free-for-All, to name a few. If you’re a pug owner, bring it to the Dash and delight spectators with an hour or two of warm-hearted, family fun.

 CHEESECAKE PAIRING AT EIKENDAL – Oct – April 2018

Zesty citrus flavours, followed by a rich berry delight and rounded off by a sultry salted caramel enchantment. These are the delectable cheesecakes that are on offer at Eikendal Vineyards as part of its brand new Cheesecake and Wine Pairing Experience – the first Stellenbosch wine estate to offer this.

WINDHOEK OKTOBERFEST (20th – 22nd October 2017)

The Windhoek Oktoberfest in Cape Town is the perfect combination of excellent Namibian Beer, great German food, games, activities and world-class entertainment including the official band in the”Hacker-Festzelt” at the Octoberfest in Munich since 1994: the Kirchdorfer band

SA COCKTAIL WEEK – 4th – 11th November 2017

PAUL RENE BUBBLY FESTIVAL – 4th November 2017

Arrive in style with a splash of pink and indulge in the beauty, simplicity and elegance at the home of Paul Rene in Robertson. Family and friends will experience the heart and soul of authentic handcrafted Paul Rene with bubbly being served all day, together with craft gin combinations.
