Cape Town’s Cold Turkey (CT) is hardly an underground party any more, as the saying goes ‘You can’t keep a good thing down’. Named after their first party on Boxing Day, Cold Turkey is a favourite Sunday hangout for Cape Townian and visitors alike to join together in the name of good times.
Due to the success of the CT concept: phat beats, a dop n a chop, and a lazy Sunday afternoon, Converse has jumped onto the band wagon to pump the style up even more. Converse featured at CT in 2011 by hosting break dancers, much needed cardboard seats, a sneaker truck store, a pool table and lockers for party animals to store their belongings. In 2012, they’re back to keep the good times rolling.
Sunday afternoons are lazy no more. The beats from Cold Turkey regularly rip up the Woodstock peace as music lovers ignore impending Monday mornings and groove the night away. The line up is never identical so whatever your taste in electronic music, spend the day hearing something new or join on a day when your favourite DJs are playing. If you can’t make it, watch your Twitter feed on a Sunday night by following @ColdTurks or searching #ColdTurkey.
CT happens at Amadoda in Woodstock every 2nd Sunday of the month. Check out the Facebook page for more details on dates and lineups here:
