This year I’ve gotten my butt into gear! I took my Mom to the Clay Cafe in Houtbay for a painting session. I also took my Dad for Father’s Day (around the same time as my Mom’s birthday in June), my brother for his birthday, his wife for her birthday (both April babies) and their 2 kids as gifts for THEIR Mother and Father’s Day. I admit, I only thought of that once I’d paid the bill but it makes sense! (Also you can call me cheap but at least everyone was included!).

HARVEST LUNCH AT 12 APOSTLES
Whether you call her Umama, Unina, Mother, Momo or ‘Mè …share a special Mother’s Day Lunch with your mum and family on 12 May. We’re serving a Harvest Table Lunch in both the Atlantic Marquee and Azure Restaurant from 13h00. Price is R595 per person, children 12 years and under are half price.
Mums rule…. At our annual Mother’s Day Weekend High Tea on 11 and 12 May. Head Pastry Chef Gina’s creativity knows no bounds as she pulls out all the stops in recognition of all MUMS. You’re in for a treat so… book early to secure a table. Tea times are 10h00, 12h30 and 15h00. Price is R325 per person for High Tea by the Sea and R375 per person for the Vegan High Tea.
ENJOY A MEMORABLE MOTHER’S DAY AT THE CELLAR’S HOHENORT
Make this year’s Mother’s Day extra special with a luxurious lunch at The Conservatory, which is situated at renowned Constantia hotel, The Cellars-Hohenort. Enjoy a leisurely stroll with your mum in the historic garden featuring 300-year-old trees, before heading to the restaurant – with its picturesque views of said garden – where a sumptuous lunch awaits.
This delicious feast starts off with artisan bread or one of The Conservatory’s classic table salads. For the main meal there is a choice of grilled free-range Beef Fillet, ember-baked Celeriac, or hand-caught Cape Line Fish. A FLAVOUR FEAST AT NEDERBURG THIS MOTHER’S DAY
Don’t miss out on the fabulous sweet wines and confectionary pairing available at the Visitors’ Centre, a short walk away from the manor house. It features Nederburg’s multi award-winning The Winemasters Noble Late Harvest, with white chocolate nougat; the supremely food-friendly The Winemasters Special Late Harvest, with citrus and stone fruit infused fudge; and none other than The Beautiful Lady Gewürztraminer that forms part of Nederburg’s Heritage Heroes collection of fine wines, paired with rose and ginger flavoured Turkish delight. According to those in the know – this is a must-experience offering at Nederburg, and only costs R65 per person!
THREE COURSE LUNCH AT GRAND PROVENCE
Treat your mom like a queen this Mother’s Day and spoil her with a Franschhoek breakaway and elegant luncheon at Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate on Sunday, 12 May 2019. The Restaurant at Grande Provence is going all out with a three course set menu, including a glass of bubbly on arrival and a special gift for mom.
This culinary indulgence begins with an enticing amuse bouche of beetroot jelly ravioli before you tuck into a choice of cured yellowtail or ox tongue served with pickles and sweet mustard. Culinary gems to choose from as a main course are beef wellington and confit rainbow trout. The star of the dessert selection is the pineapple cake with coconut lime sorbet, or try the lemon pound cake with olive oil ice cream & blueberries.
There’s a special menu for vegetarians starting with heirloom tomato &, mozzarella bavarois followed by a wild mushroom risotto, and pineapple cake with coconut lime sorbet. A delicate peppermint macaron petit four brings the lunch to a delightful close. This indulgent menu with all the trimmings is available at R495 per person.
FOUR COURSE LUNCH AT LANZERAC
On Sunday, the 12th of May 2018, the Lanzerac Hotel & Spa will be offering families a Mother’s Day to remember with a four-course lunch at the Manor Kitchen, relaxed dining at the Taphuis or brunch under the oaks at the Deli.
The four-course lunch served in the majestic Manor Kitchen will comprise of: a parma ham and asparagus salad for starters; a choice of slow braised lamb, grilled seabass or chicken and mushroom ballontine for the mains, all of which will be accompanied by a mélange of seasonal sides; and either pinotage pear crumble or strawberry crémeux for dessert. Seating is at 12h00 and the entire experience will cost R545 per person. It will be half price for children aged 8 to 12 and complimentary for children under 7. Make sure to mention that you’ll be treating your mother when booking, as a little surprise will await each mom.
For those wanting to enjoy a relaxed afternoon beneath the trees, the Taphuis terrace will be offering gourmet, pub-style dishes whilst the Deli will serve light meals, charcuterie boards, and freshly baked treats. At each venue, moms will be welcomed with a complimentary taster of the Lanzerac Syrah.
