2011 saw Hyphen and SFR take their back to back sets to new heights, reaching hundreds of drum n bass, dubstep, glitch hop and uk funky fans around Cape Town.
They may sound like a patch work quilt of beats but these two have solid foundations in the Cape Town underground drum n bass scene, only incorporating other genres over recent years.
Hyphen has been resident at Algorythmn’s monthly drum n bass party ‘Homegrown’ for the last decade as well as Niskerone’s weekly It Came From the Jungle. SFR has paired up with Niskerone for their Stellenbosch Dhala Culture nights as well as producing (and releasing internationally) and lecturing around Cape Town. Hyphen and SFR are responsible for remixing one of South Africa’s most successful rock bands Van Coke Kartel’s Ondier Kom!
Apart from producing, releasing and remixing tracks together, Hyphen and SFR have been playing back to back for some time, however, it was this year that has solidified their ability to tailor make their sets for each party, a definite plus for outdoor festivals.
From playing back to back all night with Niskerone at Earthdance a few years ago, their 2011 post sunset Earthdance set saw them rock the global festival for 90 minutes in a big tune, deep tune, jump up, get down, dirty beats kinda way!

They followed their successful Earthdance set with another big set at Rocking the Daisies on the Saturday night as well as with a few club gigs, including at The Assembly in early November.
So let’s flick off our sandles and get ready for a euphoric farm New Years party at the Techno Dubfest floor at Rezonance 2011 – 2.
