[CLOSED] Col’Cacchio Dinner for Two!

ColCaccio Celebrity Chef SeriesThis week I was invited to have dinner at Col’Cacchio in Cavendish. When was the last time you went to Col Cacchio? For me, it’s literally been 5 to 6 years ago. I always look at the people having their lunch/dinner from the escalators at Cavendish but I’d never visited that restaurant.

I was pleased to return to Col’Cacchio and try out their new Celebrity Chef Series that donates R5 from every celebrity pizza to the Children’s Hospital Trust.

We were seated by our waitress, Patience, who offered us sparkling water and our menus. I honestly DO NOT remember Col Cacchio having such an extensive menu! WOW! They have so many items on there, I was genuinely surprised. I decided to go with the meaty starter, an offering of meats, artichokes, red peppers (in some kind of sauce), Caprese salad (basil-tomato-mozzarella) and freshly baked pizza bread.

While I enjoyed the starter, it didn’t compare to the mains! I ordered the chef celebrity pizza made by Chef Jodi-Ann who has a ton of accolades for her exceptional cooking (read the place mat at Col’Caccio to learn more).  The ingredients included pulled beef, fresh chilli, fried basil leaves and it was HEAVENLY. Not cheap, at R110 a pizza, it’s worth EVERY bite. Patience recommended that I added some fresh avo. I ordered it on the side as to not change the original recipe concept. It proved to be a lovely edition to the pizza and added a lovely fresh touch to the pulled beef which was very flavourful (but not over reduced which was delicious). The pizza also looked exactly like the picture, which I appreciated!

I also ordered a glass of the Place in the Sun Shiraz which complimented the pizza beautifully. I’m not usually a red wine drinker but do enjoy the odd glass. The Shiraz didn’t overshadow the pizza in anyway and the lighter red wine flavours did compliment the food beautifully.

While the pizza had an extremely thin crust which I really enjoyed, I didn’t finish it as I was rather full. Patience then came over an coaxed us into having a dessert (I’m just to put the blame on her and stick with it 😉 ). We were all smiles when the white chocolate and milk chocolate panacotta arrived. It literally tasted like Topdeck and was TOTALLY indulgent. I’m not sure if the cook added a little extra gelatin but it was really dence. Beautiful chocolate flavours covered in a chocolate sauce made it really indulgent. I was happy to have the acid of the strawberry to cut through the richness but Mr Love had no issue having bite after bite after bite 😉
