What are you doing this Friday evening? Going home to sit on the couch? BOO! Why not rather go on a boat cruise and jam to Beatenberg LIVE on board?!
This week is the South African Ocean Festival, a festival aimed at celebrating all things South African ocean! Locals and visitors can take part in a variety of fun activities including the open water team relay, the canoe – polo mini demonstration, Xtreme Water Polo tournament and the Lighted Boat Parade.
This Friday night the spectacular Lighted Boat Parade will be launched at the V&A Waterfront. It is a symbolic ocean celebration featuring beautifully lit vessels that will parade the harbour. Once the “light carriers” have reached their destination, all the lights within the village will be activated, demonstrating how essential these ships are in lighting up the harbour.
Families and friends can gather at different viewing spots along the Waterfront to watch this annual spectacle, and can expect the Sea Princess and boat parade at Jetty 2/Quay 6 to illuminate the harbour. Following this, award winning South African band, Beatenberg will kick off festivities with an exciting, live performance.
The Lighted Boat Parade is one of the Festival’s signature events that celebrates the ocean and all that it offers to the country. Join them, it’s FREE! OR…win a cruise with Beatenberg:

SOUTH AFRICAN OCEAN FESTIVAL
The South African Ocean Festival will take place from the 21st October to the 8th November 2015, at the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town. A shared concept from V&A Waterfront, SAMSA and Worldsport, the South African OceanFestival celebrates the beauty and power of the ocean, through various ocean sports, art, music and food.
According to SAMSA the main goal of the festival is not only to boost the tourism potential of South Africa’s marine assets, but to create business and job opportunities. Ms Nhlumayo, SAMSA Centre of Maritime Excellence’s executive head, said that the ocean provides a perfect platform to achieve the above-mentioned objectives. SAMSA Centre of Maritime Excellence’s executive head, Ms Sindiswa Nhlumayo comments on the event,
“The Ocean Festival‘s vision is to celebrate the ocean through ocean sports, art, music, food and education while promoting a destination and creating opportunities for small businesses.”
