[WIN] Tickets to One Night in Cape Town 2016

One Night in Cape Town ProfileOne Night in Cape Town 2016 is here! The Cape Town leg of the Oppikoppi internationals roll into town this August and Hilltop Events are giving you the chance to catch your favourite band. Now in it’s 6th year, ONICT presents Yelawolf, August Burns Red and the Kongos, a really interesting line up of diverse artists, not to mention the South African artists that will support these act reinforcing the night’s entertainment.

KONGOS LIVE IN CAPE TOWN

Born in South Africa, now living in Arizona, USA, KONGOS are an alternative rock band consisting of four brothers: Johnny (accordion, keyboards, vocals), Jesse (drums, percussion, vocals), Daniel (guitar, vocals) and Dylan KONGOS (bass guitar, lap slide guitar, vocals). They spent their childhoods in London and in South Africa. Having previously played ONICT, they return after reaching double platinum status in the States, with their latest track, Come with Me Now.

YELAWOLF LIVE IN CAPE TOWN

After exploring Yelawolf on YouTube all I can say is, “What a funny band!” The lead singer has a badass exterior but they write really accessible, soft-ish pop music with a touch of southern folk sound and sprinkled with hip hop beats sometimes. “Yelawolf is a powerful new rap voice, one that draws from all over the map without sounding much like anyone else.” Signed to Interscope Records within three months, Rolling Stone praised him as “an MC whose liquid flow breathes life into genre clichés.” In January 2011, he signed to Eminem’s Shady Records, and his fan base grew even more rabid.

AUGUST BURNS RED LIVE IN CAPE TOWN

Hilltop Live says, “August Burns Red will be taking the Mother City out for a night she will never forget”. Just before performing live at Oppikopi, ABR will play a warm up show in Cape Town, guaranteed to blow the hair back of any of their fans (and non fans!). The screamo band hails from Lancaster, Pennsylvania and have evolved into one of the biggest modern metal bands worldwide. After 5 solid albums, the band’s latest release Rescue & Restore (2013) rocketed to the top of the Billboard charts to debut at #9 on the Billboard Top 200.
