Cape Town’s biggest beer festival, TOPS at SPAR Bierfest, is celebrating it’s 3rd birthday this weekend! Along with founding partner, South African Breweries, Tops at SPAR and SAB have once again employed their master brewers to create 3 Bavarian-styled beers exclusively for the Bierfest. This includes the Royal bavaria Oktoberfest Bier, the traditional Krystal Weiss Protea Edelweiss and the King Ludwig Munich Dunkel, a speciality dark ale.
The festival will include a 3500 seater Bavarian Brauhaus complete with beer wielding frauleins and traditional German food such as Eisbein, German sausages, pickles, pretzels and sauerkraut (some of my favourite food!) on sale on the Bierfest Menu.
To entertain beer lovers there’ll be an authentic oompah band, beer pong and competitions for the best dressed for those of you who fancy dressing like you’re in the Sound of Music (yes I know that’s Austria but it was filmed partly in Bavaria!).
