Hot Heels Africa 2013, 5 – 8th December 13

Map to Kogelberg Biosphere ReserveCape Town is increasingly becoming a city of dare-devils. With numerous extreme sports opportunities the Mother City more and more people are becoming aware and supporting these crazy sportsmen. I’m not a fan of adrenaline but I’m happy to watch from the side while others risk their necks! This is why I’m curious to visit Hot Heels Africa 2013.

Hot Heels Africa is the longest running race on the International Gravity Racing Association World Cup Circuit. More than 150 participants from around the world will enter 6 categories including downhill skateboarding, street luge and classic luge (where they lie down really flat on the boards and go down).

The South African Gravity Racing Association invites all curious spectators, fans and skaters to join the Hot Heels Africa 2013 event in the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve near Pringle Bay from the 5th – 8th of December. The biosphere has more varied plant species (1300) than the Amazon rain forest (420) and is the first biosphere in Southern Africa!

The preliminary schedule looks like this:

  • Thursday, 05 December: Practice runs
  • Friday, 06 December: Practice runs and time trials
  • Saturday, 07 December: Practice runs and race to qualify
  • Sunday, 08 December: Practice runs and Final

Entrance is R30 and goes to the reserve. Join the Hot Heels Africa Facebook Page for further updates. See you there and don’t forget to bring your hat and sunblock!
