[CLOSED] Cape Town Rockabilly Festival This Weekend

Rockability Cape Town ProfileI’ve watched the odd Cape Town rockabilly gig (Rat Rod Cats/Dave Ferguson, Long Time Citizen, etc) but I had no idea there was a whole community of people celebrating the fashion, music and sports of yesteryear! This October I went to the launch of the Dusty Rebels and the Bombshells calendar and festival launch. Think 1950’s American diner: hot red lips, rollerskates, guys with Grease hairstyles, pin ups, hot rods, burlesque dancers, hot dogs and the like. This weekend is the actual Dusty Rebels and the Bombshells Festival.

Entertainment includes Martin Rocka and the Sick Shop, Them Tornados, Lonesome Dave Ferguson, The Rat Rod Cats, The Dixie Pricks, Long Time Citizen, Mean Black Mamba, Oh Mercy and more. The Rockabilly Rhythm radio and burlesque shows on main stage (supported by House of Machines and Red Bull Studios). This year’s host: Paul Snodgrass. There is a pre-63 car and motorcycles show, the Dickies Dirt Track from lunch time to 5pm and the roller derby girls will do a mini bout.

Fashion brands on board include: Dickies, MAC Make up, Scar hair, Manic Panic beauty emporium, Wildfire tattoos, Movember & Barnet Fair barbers. Drink brands on board: Jack Daniels, Vida E Caffe, Craft Beer Project Beer tent and Juice Box. Food brands on board: I’m SO stoked that those hotdogs that I was raving about the CTEMF will be there! Baguette Hot Dog: epic German style hot dogs on Pretzels rolls – they are AMAZING! El Burro, Joes Easy Diner, Lady Cup Cake, La Rhine Bilton, Limoncello gourmet food truck, No Ordinary Burger food truck and…pop corn.

There is SO much to see and do at this event, make sure you attend and don’t miss out.
