Holi One Festival kept creeping up in my news feed over the last few weeks. I assumed it was a trance party because their artwork tends to be colourful with holistic iconography, as is the Holi One artwork. I’ve been keeping my eye on the FB Page as more and more people began to click Like.
As I contemplated writing this post, a Good Luck video came on MK. It’s called Vision and it incorporates exactly what I thought the H0li One Festival would be and, upon investigating, it seems I am right! And it looks awesome 😀
“The original Holi Festival in India is a huge fun-filled celebration of music and dancing, uniquely characterised by throwing special coloured powder into the air (and at each other) to express freedom and the colour of everyday life.” – Holi One Press Release
This festival sounds PERFECT for South Africans. We love music, dancing, partying! We’re the rainbow nation! We have a huge Indian-South African community which I know, basically, nothing about. South Africa has so many spiritual traditions and celebrations. The more we can learn about each other’s cultures and celebrate those traditions, the better we’ll all be.
On top of that, the “production” is in conjunction with Seed Experiences (Rocking the Daisies) so I believe things will be organised nicely. I’m not a big fan of adopting other country’s ideas but this is one idea that I actually think fits our people. I sure am keen to check it out 🙂
