[VIDEO] Skunk Anansie LIVE in South Africa, Rocking the Daisies 2013

When Skunk Anansie said they last played live in South Africa 16 years ago, I had KNOWN how long it had been because I’d been hoping and waiting. The Stoosh album came out when I was in high school and was one of the albums that defined my high school existence. So much so that whilst in boarding school we created a “club” called Cafe C Dorm just to listen to the music all day!

The entrance fee was your school hymn book or, of course, if you lived in the dorm LOL. And day in and day out we played Stooch over and over and over as well as Faithless’ Insomnia single and the Prodigy’s Fat of the Land. Girls just wanna have fun, eh? So when I say I’ve been wanting to watch Skunk Anansie for 16 years – I mean it!

Skin up Close IMG_0465I’m so thrilled to say they were nothing short of what I’d hoped for live. I still see Skin as my absolute woman of the planet (never mind year)! I was very tomboyish growing up so I think I always liked her style. Little did I know that she was lesbian, I just thought she was a kick ass chick! It makes no difference to me. I still thought she was the most beautiful woman on the planet after seeing her live at Rocking the Daisies 2013.

The whole band put on a fantastic show with Skin bouncing around and rocking out like a true rock star, after having major back problems last week (thanks Twitter!). She stage dived, walked through the crowd RIGHT to me. I had a video of her kissing the girl next to me as she walked on our shoulders but I lost it some how *SUPER SAD FACE*. None the less, I have the memory and will proceed to Tweet her to death for the rest of my life *KIDDING*…maybe not 😉

Skin at Rocking the Daisies 2013So for everyone who thought Skin was the coolest human on the planet and who wept through the show like a total geek (hope that wasn’t just me. Oops! Must have been the touch of whisky I had 😉 ), enjoy the video 🙂

So without further adieu, here is Skin rocking out with Skunk Anansie, crapping on SOMEONE who wouldn’t let go of her foot (so funny, what the hell?), telling us what to do and crowd surfing all the way back to the front. What a show!

P.S THIS is how close I was!!! —–>

You're not alone, I cried too. SO MANY TIMES. Tried to sneak into the concert when I was 14 and failed dismally.

Am currently trying to whittle down the three pages of writing I have into a few paragraphs for a review. I can't. it was magical.
