The Good Food and Wine Show in Cape Town is this weekend and I can’t wait! I really enjoy seeing what ‘food entrepreneurs’ are up to these days. I use that term as it’s not only about chefs cooking, but also about new food products as in, actual things you can eat, but also about food technology – like the latest foodie gadgets and product lines.
One of the best parts of the show is the demonstrations both by local and international chefs and foodies. Last year we met Matt Preston from Master Chef Australia at the Good Food and Wine Show, it was AWESOME! This year George Colombaris is coming to town! I love George! I love Gary and George haha! If you don’t watch Master Chef Australia, then you are missing out on the grand duo.
This year’s celebrity chef line up is a killer, featuring: Jenny Morris (Giggle Goumet/Food Network), J’ Something (Mi Casa, yes he’s a great cook in case you didn’t know!), George Colombaris (Master Chef Australia), Sherwyn Weaich (Ultimate Braai Master Finalist 2014/Gourmet Bushie), Adriano Zumbo (the chef that makes that insane macaron tower in MCA), Siba Mtongana (Chopped SA/Siba’s Table on Food Network), Sarah Graham (A Foodie Lives Here/Sarah Graham Food Safari), Bertus Basson (Overture/Ultimate Braai Master), Chef Christo (12 Apostles), Claire Allen (Master Chef South Africa) and Siphokazi Mdlankomo (Master Chef South Africa, I loved her!), among others.
The Good Food and Wine Show is also about brands sharing product news, features and new developments. Like Albany Bakery who will be both exhibiting and sponsoring the event. Expect to see Sherwyn Weaich’s who will be hosting My Kitchen appearances from Executive Chef, Braai Master and television host Sherwyn Weaich and his much-loved Gourmet Bushie brand at the Albany Bakeries stand and the Baking Theatre.
I’m not eating bread at the moment – post honeymoon diet coupled with killer heartburn if I eat my favourite thing on the planet – white bread! Bread and butter, toasted cheese sandwiches, white bread and stew, toast and peanut butter…I could cry! ALL SO TASTY! 🙁 But because it’s only Mr John eating it at the moment, I like the buy prepacked rolls for him to enjoy throughout the week. They’re one of the only products that stay FRESH, also the theme for this year’s GDWS, sponsored by Albany!
