Dickies Launch at ANVL Kraft

Are you familiar with the Dickies brand? Some people know the streetwear range from skateboarding as kids, others know it as a workwear range that’s hugely popular in the USA and Europe. I know it as both as I worked on the European brand a few years ago and become very familiar with their ranges. So when I heard it was launching in Cape Town, I was keen to visit.

ANVL Kraft Launches Dickies

Last week Mr John and I visited a whole new space in Cape Town. ANVL Kraft is a motorbike workshop where they craft and repair bikes. They’ve teamed up with Dickies to launch an in-store Dickies outlet that provides Dickies clothing to the SA market.

We arrived at ANVL Kraft in Woodstock and were warmly welcomed with snacks and cocktails. Sean Westcot was playing some rock n roll tunes, while the bar offered free Jack Daniel’s cocktails. Perfect for keeping warm on a very chilly night. There was also a chef in the workshop delivery very delicious snacks!

Dickies at ANVL

The Dickes clothing available at ANVL is, “workwear inspired fashion”, which I think is a great positioning for South Africa. In the UK, the streetwear clothing can be quite pricey, with the workwear items being quite inexpensive (think t-shirt packs, etc.). This midmarket placement makes sense with so many Capetonians both working outdoors as well as enjoying outdoor activities. Bikers, surfers, skaters, it’s a great fit.

Half way through the evening we were warmly welcomed by the partners of ANVL Kraft who expressed their excitment and pleasure in providing the retail store a location. This workshop is actually available for hire (for anyone looking for an event venue!).

I couldn’t resist enjoying the fire outdoors even though it was super chilly. The rain was about to set in so I wanted to make the most of the cool wintery night with a warming Jack D.
