There have been reports of a MyCiti Bus accident this morning just after 9 o clock this morning. According to unconfirmed reports, there are a few injured travellers but no fatalities at this time. Randall Nicholls (@twisztad) posted this picture from his Twitter account 2 hours ago stating, “The MyCiti bus I was on was just involved in a massive accident. 2 people hurt.” I requested further information from Mr Nicholls but he could not be reached.
According to further reports, the MyCity Bus was travelling towards the Civic Center when a car drove straight into the bus lane causing the bus to crash into the vehicle. The accident occurred about 100 meteres from the Civic Center stop on the Blouberg route.
UPDATE: According to Di Proctor (@DiProc) the bus driver handled the situation “very well” after a car “T-Boned” the bus.
MyCiti Bus has confirmed the accident but is waiting to make an official announcement which is understandable.
The MyCiti Bus route has recently celebrated their 2 year anniversary with free rides for the public. It is a system that connects upper Woodstock, the City Bowl, Atlantic Seaboard and Tableview for commuters not wanting to use their vehicles to travel within the Mother City.
My best wishes go out to the passengers on the bus and vehicle and pray for a swift recovering for all.
