[WATCH] Fokofpolisiekar DVD Launch, Hillcrest Quarry

FokOfPolisieKar DVD CoverOn the 16th of August, Friday night saw Fokofpolisiekar launch their Forgive Them For They Suck K*K live DVD in Cape Town. The famed Afrikaans rock South African band first revealed some of the DVD footage at South Africa’s biggest festival, Oppikoppi, at the start of August. This Friday they took it to a far more intimate setting at the Hillcrest Quarry in Durbanville.

The weather was phenomenally bad on Friday and even I considered not attending (rain never keeps me down). But when I heard it was in doors, I was happy to attend. It’s a pity the weather was so poor because the venue was in a fantastic setting. After driving around in the pitch dark, up hills, through farm lands, we wound our way to the bottom of the quarry. This is the same venue that Lamb of God will be hosted in and I think it will be FANTASTIC!

A little dance floor was opened up and even though there were only probably about 120 there, NO one was holding back the Fokof fans. It started with a group of 5, then 10, then 20 and by the end of the show they had half the audience jamming away.

Fok of DVD Launch Crowd DurbanvilleIf you’re a big fokof fan then this gig would have been a DREAM for you. The guys were as charming as ever, played a mix from their acoustic set and the rock set (both on the DVD) and had a lot of audience intergration – hell, the audience could have sung their whole show back to them!

It was a great show and double brandys and coke were only R25 a pop at the bar. You gotta love da Ville! If you’re keen to check Fokof then get down to the aquarium this Saturday night for their second Cape Town show. Tickets are available from Webtickets.
