STORMZY To Headline Rocking the Daisies 2020

As if people weren’t eager enough to say goodbye to the Mercury Retrograde with the best of hopes for 2020, Rocking the Daisies has come out with an absolute SMASHER this morning!

The much loved Cape Town pop music festival announced this morning that the 2019 Glastonbury headliner STORMZY will be headlining the 15th edition of Rocking the Daisies in 2020!

This is a HUGE move from the established music festival, with the British rapper being the first grime artist to have an album reach number one on the UK Album Charts in 2018, now heading to South Africa for the event.

At just 26 years old, Stormzy was the first black British male to headline Glastonbury in 2019. Wearing a union jack clad stab vest designed by anonymous street artist, Banksy, he acknowledged the increasing knife crime in his hometown of London.

After 2 grime artists pulled out of Daisies 2019, fans were left disappointed with their last minute announcements cancelling their performances. Personally, I’m happy to have traded those two in for Stormzy!! Here’s the #Daisies15

1975 Headline Rocking the Daisies 2019

Rocking the Daisies has been on a transformative mission over the past 3 years to make the festival more inclusive with more options for ticket holders as well as bigger lineups. The 1975 headlined 2019 and was a great success. Read my review of 1975 live at Rocking the Daisies or watch the vlog below:

What Is Grime?

Time Magazine described the bass music of grime as, “a genre of music that emerged from the streets of multicultural London in the early 2000s and that is characterized by frenetic urgency.

In 2017, an academic from the University of Westminster said it was on track to be “as disruptive and powerful as punk.”
