South Africa’s version of Netflix has just launched in South Africa: SHOWMAX. For just R100 per month, you can now connect to a bouquet of series and movies. It’s SUPER simple to sign up. Here’s how:
Go to www.showmax.com. Click SIGN UP on the top right.
Sign up with the usual (payment details will be asked later).
I didn’t sign up via Twitter as I’m bound to include my credit card details which should match with my finacial records not Twitter handle!
Movies will also be available for ShowMax Premium.
ACCESSING SHOWS
Signing up is free, however, to actually watch you need to upgrade to Premium it seems. You will also need to input your credit card details for your 7-day free trial. I went to Game of Thrones to test it out , where by it suggested I upgraded to watch.
This then took me to a place where you can only pay with CREDIT CARD or Paypal. However, if you have a visa chipped debit card I’m sure it will work as well. If you don’t have a chipped card, probably not.
USING SHOWMAX ON YOUR SMART TV
If you have a smart TV at home, there is also an app. We just searched for it and it came up.
HOW MUCH DATA WILL IT COST?
ShowMax’s welcoming e-mail gives you a little extra formation in this regard. It states, “While you can use a 2Mbps line, we recommend an uncapped 4Mbps line or faster for the best viewing experience. If you don’t have uncapped internet, keep an eye on your data costs.”
I NEED HELP
According to their Twitter account, they have agents available between 9am and 9pm daily. So if you get stuck, tweet them.
As if I don’t have little enough time as it is, my spare-spare time is really about to disappear. Enjoy!
