To be honest, when people would ask about kids activities at events it’s because I felt like they were just trying to pass their kids off onto other visitors/the venue while they sip cold beers. Sadly, some people do still act this way. But now that I have a nephew, I realise that kids have an attention span shorter then a goldfish! And actually they just get bored even if the event is cool! So I’m understanding the request for kids activities a lot more now…
And because I work full time now, I appreciate my weekends. So I’m going to try share a few more events that are kid friendly so that us 30 years olds+, can get out on weekends, in the sunshine, with the fam, but have be able to keep the kids from screaming (please Lord, keep them from screaming!). So without further adeu:
RIVER REPUBLIC 2017
Meet new people and make friends for life, and for a while forget your city strife. Let the music keep playing with a shake and a shiver, and you’ll be ever so grateful you escaped to the river.
Renowned for the organising of Up The Creek, one of the Western Cape`s most loved music festivals, the Red Hot Events team also introduced a wild and wonderful new boutique-festival two years ago: Savanna presents River Republic Facebook page.
Where: Round the Bend Lodge, Breeder River, Swellendam
When: 24th – 26th November 2017
Tickets: From R350 for kids to R860 for adults. (R2900+ for chalets, see details below).
Set at the same river, on the plush lawns next to a beautiful creek, this new little festival embodies that pina-colada-hidden-paradise-kind-of-awesome-party that we all dream of. Take a break and escape to the River Republic for the coolest getaway party with your best friends and most loved local DJ`s and bands. The line-up for this year is such a delight, we think for the love of grand sunsets, we`ve got it just right!
Side note: I went to Up the Creek 2017 and it was EPIC!
River Republic Line Up 2017
The Kiffness, Nomadic Orchestra, Ben Dey & the Concrete Lions, Sean Koch Trio, BRYNN, Brothers Remedy, Bam Bam Brown, Dave Knowles, Hans Zen, Jackal & The Wind, Jak Skandi, Koisan, Los Tacos, Lt. Fizzer, Manny Walters, Mobbing Bali, MT Seas, Roxton met Herki, Astra Funk & The Space Cats, Money for Bali & Well Done Sun.
To keep the good times rolling, we are also bringing you some live comedy over the weekend: Anne Hirsch is your MC on Saturday and comedian Kagiso Mokagadi will be providing us with good laughs. (Hate standup comedy, LOVE Kagiso Mokagadi! He’s actually funny and doesn’t laugh at his own jokes the whole time in a lame attempt to get others to laugh! So happy about this!)
River Republic Features
Free Savanna on Arrival
On arrival you will be greeted with a free ice cold Savanna, as you jump on the shuttle down to the festival. Just the thing to get your weekend started and well deserved after your drive!
Mexican madness hour: When a band like Los Tacos comes along you just want to get your groove on. With a mix of Latina and Capetonian blood, their catchy Latin American tunes will shake up the river banks. Don your sombreros, sip on tequila flavoured Savanna Locos and hula, hula people, let`s party!
Music Experience Deck Sessions: Just like last year we are hosting auditions for fresh talent at Music Experience (second round on 18 October). From each session, two artists are chosen to perform on the deck at River Republic 2017.
Email: firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like to apply to audition.
